I've been in a rut lately. I'm at work for up to 14 hours at a time, then I come back to the hotel, eat, shower, and head for bed. I may make time for Bible reading and prayer on some days, but all too often, I collapse exhausted on the bed without any relationship-building between myself and the one true master of the universe.

As a believer, how often have you had another believer tell you that you are wasting your time by reading the writings of past leaders such as Martin Luther?

As our nation's economy continues its slow, downward slide, we who live for the one true God must not make the mistake of abandoning the things he has put in our hearts. We do need to reevaluate them. There may be some things that we were wrong about, and some that we were not wrong, but the time has passed, and some that we are to delay. But there will be some things, whether continued from before or newly given, which will challenge you this year.

 I had a conversation recently with a young person who wanted to start an enterprise with some of his companions. He said that none of them know anything about how to do the things they'll need to do, nor do they have any time or money set aside to learn. I immediately thought of his performance in another area.

He had been offered the chance to learn another field--provided some tools, some learning resources, and some assignments to pursue--but ultimately chose not to do anything with it.

Anger Control

Think back to a time when someone said or did something, and you just blew up, spewing spittle everywhere as you ranted and raved about how this person always does <insert irritating act here> and you're not going to put up with it any more. Do you remember how you felt afterward, when you realized that what you threw a tantrum over was actually pretty minor?
